Have you heard of the video or book by Dr. Harvey Karp called The Happiest Baby on the Block? Its incredible. I first heard about it in nursing school and watched you tube clips of it because the library in Rexburg didn't have the video. I just watched it tonight with Bryan and I am so glad I did! There were amazing tips that we are excited to try when Baby Boy comes.
It was interesting to watch screaming babies instantly calm down. Granted, this is after they are fed, warm, clean, and changed, can these 5 S's help. They are swaddle, side, shoosh, shake (more like jiggle), suck. The vieo said swaddling alone won't help but combined with one or a few of these work like magic.

Has anybody tried this with their fussy babies?
my baby is living proof that those methods work.... she is the sweetest baby not only on the block but in the whole world. she likes it when we sing christmas songs or our famous duet of 'horsey horsey' she is super happy when i snuggle her in bed, only it is our version of tuck tuck tuck those blankies in really tight, and she is the king of jiggle... just watch her knees when she is sitting in church...the entire pew is shaking as she jiggles one knee at hyper speed.... i could go on and on. seriously, this is a wonderful video and it confirms that most of the things we do for fussy babies really does help and when they are combined it is like magic to quiet them down. you will be a super mommy!!

ReplyDeleteBryan and I saw horses the other day on our walk and I started singing horsey horsey, but Bryan doesn't know that song :) I have gotten better with crazy knee shaking! maybe i'm just too tired to do it now, but i'm sure I will have done it enought that baby will love it. haha.
