Patty, Eli and I went on an adventure to Thorne Bay to Sandy Beach. We went on a low tide and were able to explore lots of different sea creatures, shells, and find dozens of sand dollars!
Eli did amazing all day. He tromped through the water happy as could be, played in the sand (and got filthy of course) and slept the whole way home. Couldn't ask for a better day!

is that a hermit crab without a shell house on eli's hand? he probably had sand in his hair, in his ears, and inside his pants by the time that day was done but it is amazing the creatures he learns about while he is in alaska and how comfortable and 'at home' he seems with everything that is there. patty and shane will miss him a lot in a couple of weeks - yes the quiet and calm will be nice, but they will miss the people and noise and energy too. they are so gracious and generous to share their summers and home with your little family
