What's cooking

Well, currently in the kitchen we have pecan crusted salmon, orange juice halibut, chicken cordon blu, BBQ steak, fresh bread, and lots of mashed potatoes!

But what's cooking in our life?

I want to live abroad. So does Bryan :)  He could teach abroad and i'd either teach English, or do nursing in another country.  Bryan's first choice is London/England area.  I don't care where we go.

China, Peru, Guatemala, England, Germany, Japan, Mars...

But now is the best chance for us to go.  So...who knows any organizations for teaching abroad, or who has done it and has advice?

"Captain Bryan and first mate Lizzie"

This is Bryan's parents boat that we took out fishing.  It's named the Patty Ann for Bryan's mom.
I'm represented in Alaksa!

This was the first catch of the day.  Each person is allowed to catch 6 silver salmon a day.  I got my 6 and Bryan caught three :)  I'm wearing Shane's rain pants to keep dry, but they look a bit like hammer pants!
Bryan is a little messy.  Yes, thats fish blood.
We threw a dead fish out on the top of the water, and the eagle immediately swooped down for some free lunch. See the fish in his claws?
I was bending my knees to see through the window, but because the pants are so baggy you can't tell i'm squating and I just look like a really awkardly short person!

The potty.  When you gotta go, you gotta go!

After we were done catching salmon we tried to get a few halibut.  We ended up with a 4 inch one :)
check out those eye balls!!

1,800 miles away

Finally made it to Alaska to spend a week with Bryan!  I flew out of Salt Lake at 8:00. Stopped in Seattle to change planes, then headed on to Ketchikan AK.  Waited for 4 hours in the tiny airport and took a float plane over to Bryan's town!  Usually its two planes and two ferries but this time only three planes. Sounds a little better, right?

This is a float plane at the dock similar to the one I flew on.
I was the only passenger so I got to sit in the cock pit next to the pilot.  Pretty cool!  Even though this is my third time to Alaska I was being a major tourist and taking lots of pictures.

Bryan and I love a little pizza parlor in Craig, AK called Papa's Pizza.  Bryan had already ordered it, and it was ready when I flew in :)  We always get stuffed breadsticks, and they are divine!  fluffy bread, bacon, chicken, mozzarella cheese, and delicious-ness!

That is the island where he lives.  about 2,000 people in the summer.
Bryan had to fish the next day, so after he came in we went down to the dock to check out his catch.  This is him and his dad.

Before we know, good things will grow to feed our family

Our little garden continues to grow.  When we get back from Alaska a few tomatoes should be ready to pick!

Bryan left this morning for Alaska.
I'll see him in three days.
Three very long days.
After I leave Alaska it'll be a long two weeks.

I miss the rain.
Utah rain is pathetic.
It rains for two minutes then is hot and muggy again.
Rexburg summer rainstorms were incredible.
Why can't Idaho pay teachers for their master's degrees?!
We'd be back there in a heartbeat.

I'm feeling lazy today.
I did the laundry and dishes, but that sums up my activities.
Maybe I'll nap.
Or read.
I have ideas to work on but getting up at 5:00 this morning zapped my energy

One Fine Fisherman

I like this quote.  Not sure where I would put it or what I would do with it but I definitely have a fisherman living in our home! Bryan is heading up to Alaska on Wednesday to fish for a month in Craig, AK.  He looks forward to this every year. I will be going up for a week on Saturday. I'm excited for him to be able to do something he loves.  But why does it have to be so far away?!

Lots of pictures to come (on my new camera!!)

Lizzie the Photographer!

For about a year Bryan and I have been talking about getting a nicer camera to take pictures with.  I really enjoy photography but i'm not great at it and I don't want to spend 1000$ on lenses and equipment.

Enter Anniversary present.

Bryan was going to surprise me on our 2 year anniversary with a new camera, but I brought up possibly going shopping for one this weekend.  He said, "you ruined your surprise!"  I didn't know he was planning on getting me one!!  We decided to go ahead and get it this weekend so I can take it to Alaska with us.  Yay!!!!

Love you Bryan!

Camping... Try 1

We wanted to go camping this weekend with our good friends Denise and Chad.  We scouted out a few spots this week but they were all reserved for this weekend!  Apparently everyone and their dog wanted to go camping.  We're used to Idaho where we can just pack up and drive somewhere and camp right there.

We still wanted to at least have a fire and do tin foil dinners, so we met up after work and drove up timpanogos cave and had a great evening!!  Now we know to reserve a spot much earlier so we're already planning our trip!!
Our smore's.  Chad already ate his marshmellow :)
 Denise's 5 Star roasting skills
Perfect ooey-gooey melty chocolate.  Somehow I was very messy and ended up with drippy melty chocolate on my leg, shoe, and foot!  oops!

 Pretty Tibble Fork Lake
really grainy poor picture- but it was gorgeous!!

We had quite a tough time getting the fire started but it kept us quite entertained :)  We made tin foil dinners, but we ate them too fast without getting any pictures.  And of course pottying in the forest is a must when out camping.

4th of July Reunion

I love my own family with all my heart, but I could not have been blessed with a better second family than Bryan's.  I feel like I have known them all much longer than I really have and we all get along great together!!  Here is everyone waiting for the Rexburg parade to start.
Watching the parade with Bryan holding sweet Bennett.

He's a natural :)

Sweet nieces dancing to the parade music
We lit off a few fireworks at Aunt Darla's
And who can have a family reunion without a water fight?!  See that balloon of Addie's flying in mid air?  Nice shot!

 Just hanging out :)
Sleepy Tess

Cute cute girls

Jen and I playing Lawn Golf

All the little kids were playing on the slip 'n' slide on a 90 degree day.  How could we not join in?!  In my family we call it a Slip 'n' Die.  Luckily no injuries were obtained :)

I skidded to a halt halfway down the slide!!

What a fabulous weekend.  I love being together in a town we absolutely love with wonderful people we love even more.

Family Reunion

Bryan and I had a wonderful family reunion.  A post will be coming shortly... work is kicking my butt this week though!
