Happy Independence Day!

Eli sure has changed in the year since the last Fourth of July.
(Last year)

Here in Craig, Alaska fireworks are done on the night of July 3rd, then the parade and activities are on the 4th.  Eli slept right through the fireworks, so Bryan and I got to enjoy a few quiet moments watching them.

Lots of rain was forcasted for today, so we brought our rain jackets and enjoyed the day anyway! The parade was...short.  But really fun for Eli to pick up the candy.  He had a great time, and walked around the house later saying "fire, fire fire". He wanted to go see more fire trucks  :)

After the parade we headed down to the Ball Park for the coin hunt, three legged race, and gunny sack races.  There was a huge pile of bark chips with quarters hidden in the top layer and lots of little toys.  Eli had NO interest in picking up the quarters.  That little guy will regret it someday :)

Next was time for some races! Tess and I, Macy and Steve, and Addie and Papa Shane!

Jess and I did the three legged race too!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

  1. the picture of you and tess in the 3-legged race made me laugh because she is holding to you with one hand and holding up her pants with the other... skinny kids with no butts need suspenders sometimes!! but it looks like a super fun day too. i love the flags that start off the parade and no matter the size of the town or length of the parade this is just the patriotic way that it needs to be done! throwing candy is great fun for the participants as well as the 'candy throwers'...
