The dough was 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of flour mixed with 1/2 cup water. It made 4 starfish with that amount of dough.
I shaped them out then let them dry overnight.

I added a thin coat of white paint so they weren't so yellow looking and set them up!
Bryan and I bought the shelves on saturday using our 50% off coupon for Hobby Lobby. Woo hoo! We painted the shelves out on the lawn. Actually I held them and Bryan painted. I got painted too. We really like them!!
do you remember one time we were at the oregon coast and you guys were all really little and you each had a bucket full of stuff you had found on the sand that day that you brought home. in that lovely collection were a star fish, some shells, part of a crab, a broken sand dollar, etc. well, after sitting in the bucket over night in the heat, it smelled like a huge marine animal had barfed then died on the back deck. the smell was ferrociously dreadful. hope your star fish don't stink. they are very clever and think... you made them yourself! i like the little addition....
ReplyDeleteI remember coming home with tons of pieces of shells, seagull feathers, kelp, and probably old dog poo. These definitely don't smell :)
